Skyhawks To Face St. Rose For A Fourth Time

Indianapolis, Ind. - No. 3-seeded Stonehill will be making a return trip to Philadelphia for this year's NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Tournament. The Skyhawks will face sixth-seeded St. Rose for a fourth time this season in the opening round scheduled for Friday at a time still to be determined. Second-seeded Holy Family will serve as the host for the second year in a row and is a potential second round opponent for the 20-8 Skyhawks.

Stonehill is making its fourth straight trip to the NCAA Tournament and sixth trip in eight seasons under head coach Trish Brown.

The Golden Knights won all three previous meetings this season, including ousting the Skyhawks in the Northeast-10 quarterfinal round early last week.

In all, five Northeast-10 teams were selected to the field including Franklin Pierce (1), Bentley (4) and American International (5).

Stonehill is paced by four double figure scorers in Kelsey Simonds (15.5), Emily Rousseau (14.5), Bethany Tighe (13.6) and Kristen McWhirter (11.5), while the Golden Knights counter with Lauren Revesz (17.2) and Dana Brown (15.2).

The winner of the East Regional advances to the Elite Eight which will take place in San Antonio, Texas beginning Wednesday, March 24.

Twenty-two conferences have been awarded automatic qualification. The committee selected the remaining 42 teams at-large.

Eight regional tournaments, consisting of eight teams each, will be conducted at campus sites March 13, 14 and 16. The regional champions will advance to the NCAA Women's Elite Eight March 24, 25 and 27 at Bill Greehey Arena in San Antonio, Texas. St. Mary's University (Texas) and the San Antonio Sports will host the Elite Eight.
