Through Daryl's Eyes: We Just Ran Out Of Time

Through Daryl's Eyes: We Just Ran Out Of Time

What a long strange trip it's been ... but we couldn't have done it alone.

Coach, Kelly and Toya, by always demanding that we give our best even when we didn't think we had it in us, you made us tough. By pushing us hard in practice and in the weight room, you made us strong. By keeping us "tucked and tied", you made us classy. By knowing that we were capable beyond measure, you made us confident. By getting us involved with our school and our community, you made us well rounded and by treating us as adults, you made us world ready.

Pete aka the den mother, trainer, psychologist, and sideline coach we love you and the tough front you put on. Without you we would physically and emotionally fall apart. Many days it is because of you that we make it through. Thank you for listening or at least pretending to.

Parents, you have taken us all in and made us a part of your families. Whether it is something as small as a congratulatory hug or as big as a permanent room in your house (which I have no problem taking you all up on, and I'm sure my parents are pushing for). Your love and support has reached all of us, it is because of you that we truly feel like a family. You should all be so proud that you have raised such beautiful and extraordinary women.

To my team, what a motley crew we are. Fun and funny to the very end. I would be lying if I told you I didn't love every minute of it. Yes, even that crazy practice when coach pulled the mid season conditioning card. I consider each and every one of you a sister, you should be so proud of everything we have done. Without you this ride would not have been worth taking. We truly are one.

To all of the people behind the scenes, Paula Sullivan, Cindy Mac, Kevin Anderson, Nick Smith, Brendan Sullivan, Father G (who did a great job blessing Merkert, we only lost one home game but then again even God took the 7th day off to rest) thank you, what you do for us does not go unnoticed.

Fans who come and support and still check the website daily, Super fans who never miss a game and travel for hours in the snow and rain, friends who understand having 5am practices and that we miss so many important functions but still love us anyway. Professors who excuse our absences and put in the extra time to meet with us so we don't fall behind and those rare Super Professors who teach winter classes, bring baked goods on away trips and travel to Italy, without you our success would mean nothing.

I raise a toast to the coaches who have coached us, the fans who have supported us, the teammates who have known us and the lucky teams who got to play against us.

And for everyone who reported that we lost to Franklin Pierce I would just like to clear that up.  In the words of the great Vince Lombardi, "We did not lose the game, we just ran out of time. "

Thank you everyone for making my four years truly special.
