NEW HAVEN, Conn.-- Senior Babette Noah (Yaounde, Cameroon) scored 19 points to lead three players in double figures as fourth-ranked Southern Connecticut remained unbeaten with a 72-47 Northeast-10 Conference women's basketball victory over 21st-ranked Stonehill Tuesday evening at Moore Fieldhouse.

The host Owls (19-0, 15-0 Northeast-10), who have now won 28 straight regular season contests dating back to last January, opened up a 10-point cushion at the break (30-20) and extended that to 12 points just after intermission before the visiting Skyhawks (15-5, 10-5 Northeast-10) used an 8-2 run over the next 2:07 of play to slice their deficit to six at 34-28 on a lay-in by senior Alisha Collins (Port Chester, N.Y.). Southern Connecticut regained a nine-point advantage before using an 8-2 run of its own to take a 15-point lead (50-35) with 11:19 to play, and the Owls iced matters by scoring 12 straight points over a 4:01 stretch to extend its edge to 25 points and holding that margin for the remaining five minutes of action.

Junior Kate Lynch (Rumford, R.I.) scored 16 points in the win for Southern Connecticut, which also received 15 points, six rebounds and six assists from junior Shamika Jackson (Manchester, Conn.). Junior Michelle Martinik (Monroe, Conn.) added eight points for the hosts, while junior LaShauna Jones (Middletown, Conn.) chipped in with seven points and six boards for the Owls, who shot 49 percent from the field and held a 39-31 rebounding edge to go with a 48-28 scoring advantage in the paint for the evening.

Collins paced Stonehill in the scoring column with 16 points, while sophomore Bethany Tighe (North Easton, Mass.) added six points for the visitors. Senior Tiffany Huggins (Stoughton, Mass.) grabbed six boards for the Skyhawks, who shot 31 percent from the field and committed 18 turnovers on the night.

Stonehill hosts Pace in a Northeast-10 outing on Saturday afternoon at Merkert Gymnasium beginning at 1:30 p.m., while Southern Connecticut travels to Manchester, N.H. on Saturday afternoon to take on Southern New Hampshire in a Northeast-10 match-up that also begins at 1:30 p.m.
