WORCESTER, Mass.-- Junior Caitlin Kennedy (Baldwin, N.Y.) scored 21 points and grabbed seven rebounds as Stonehill posted the 650th victory in the program's 35-year history with a 69-60 non-league women's college basketball triumph over Molloy in first round play of the 2005 Assumption Courtyard Classic Friday evening at Laska Gymnasium.

The Skyhawks (2-0) overcame a two-point halftime deficit by blistering the nets at a 59 percent clip in the final 20 minutes of play, as Stonehill connected on 16-of-27 field goal attempts after shooting just 35 percent from the floor in the first half. Junior Alisha Collins (Port Chester, N.Y.) was also in double figures for the winners with 14 points, while sophomore Erika Stupinski (Topsham, Maine) added nine points, seven steals and six assists for the Skyhawks, who recorded 15 steals and forced 27 turnovers. Junior Kim Morast (Bridgewater, Mass.) chipped in with eight points, four rebounds and three steals for Stonehill, which also received six points off the bench from freshman Kelsey Simonds (Bridgewater, Mass.).

Senior Donna Lohrey (Glendale, N.Y.) paced the Lions (0-2) with a game-high 20 points, including four three-pointers, while fellow senior Rose Bruno (Staten Island, N.Y.) added 12 points in the setback for Molloy, which also received nine points and five rebounds from sophomore Kelly Quakenbush (Westbury, N.Y.). The Lions shot 45 percent from the field and held a 33-23 rebounding advantage for the contest but were hurt by 27 turnovers on the night in the first-ever meeting between the two schools.

Stonehill squares off with Adelphi in second round play of the 2005 Assumption Courtyard Classic on Saturday afternoon at Laska Gymnasium beginning at 2:00 p.m., while Molloy takes on host Assumption in the other second round-match-up at 4:00 p.m.
