The Nation's Fastest Time Resides in Easton

Men's Results

Medford, Mass. - Another benchmark has been set by the Stonehill Men, who claimed the nation's fastest time in the Distance Medley, Saturday at the Tufts Stampede.  A team comprised of Kevin Gill (Brockton, Mass./Brockton), Tom Woods (Medfield, Mass./Medfield), Dickie Gerry (Bow, N.H./Bow) and Keith Gill (Brockton, Mass./Brockton) took the event by storm, claiming a new national mark of 9:56.89.  The impressive time for the Skyhawks headlines another successful weekend for the men.

The Medley Relay is comprised of four individual races.  Kevin Gill, a senior, got the Skyhawks off to great start, finishing the 1200 Meter Run in 3:01.8.  He handed off to classmate Tom Woods.  Woods cruised through the 400 Meter Dash (52.19) on his way to meeting up with Dickie Gerry for the 800 Meter Run.  Gerry's finish in 1:56.8 left the final leg of the race to freshman Keith Gill.  Gill dominated the 1 Mile Run with a 4:05.8 finish to secure Stonehill's top spot.

Abilene Christian held the fastest time prior to Stonehill.  They finished with a time of 9:57.04.

Sophomore Joe D'Agostino (Canton, Mass./Canton) also had a record-setting day for the Purple and White.  His 6'7" leap in the High Jump shattered his previous school record of 6"6.25" set only two weeks ago. D'Agostino's finish earned him top honors for Stonehill, as well.

Among the Skyhawks' first place finishers is Torrey Price (Sleepy Hollow, N.Y./Sleepy Hollow) for his efforts in the 55 Meter Dash. Price, a junior, finished in 6.57 for first place accolades.

David Metzger (Ellington, Conn./Ellington) provided another strong week for the Skyhawks, finishing the Men's 1000 Meter Run in 2:31.08 - good enough for second place in the event.  Classmate Joe Ryan (Chelmsford, Mass./Chelmsford) also finished second in the 3000 Meter Run with a time of 8:44.81.

Rounding out the day for the Skyhawks is sophomore Josh Andrews (Chelmsford, Mass./Chelmsford), who finished the Mile Run in 4:20.6 to claim the event's third spot.  Senior Russell Miranda (West Warwick, R.I/West Warwick) finished third as well in the Weight Throw, registering a 45'5" measurement.

The men's final third place finish came in the 4x 200 Meter Relay.  Price, Tyler Guilmette (East Longmeadow, Mass./East Longmeadow), Brian Reilly (Oakland, N.J./Indian Hills) and Dan Richter (Bedford, Mass./Bedford) finished two seconds behind Ithaca College for the top spot.

The Track & Field teams return to action next week, when they will compete in the Valentine Invitational.
