Track & Field Prepares For Reebok Invitational

Easton, Mass. - Almost one month until the Northeast-10 Championships and the Men's Track and Field team is in full swing.  The men's confidence should be sky-high after claiming three school records at the U.R.I. Sorlien Invitational held on Saturday at in Kingstown, R.I.  Freshman Kevin Gill (Brockton, Mass.), sophomore Joe D'Agostino (Canton, Mass.) and senior Keith Gill (Brockton, Mass.) qualified for the New England Championships with their record setting performances.

Freshman Kevin Gill earned his spot amongst New England's top runners - finishing the Men's 1000 Meter Run in 2:30.02.  His sixth place finish was the second highest for the Skyhawks.  Gill's time moves him to third all-time in the College's record book.  In the process, Kevin claimed the College's top freshman spot from teammate Dickie Gerry (Bow, N.H.), who ran 1000 meters in 2:30.73 his rookie season.

Joe D'Agostino cleared 6'6.25" feet in the Men's High Jump to claim fourth place for the Skyhawks.  The leap meant much more for D'Agostino, who claimed both a new personal and school record.  The College's record was previously shared by Matt Carroll and Dana Burbank.

Keith Gill seems determined to make his senior year a historic one.  He collected another Stonehill College record Saturday, his fifth in Indoor events. His most recent record came after torching the competition in the Men's 1000 Meter Run.  Gill passed one of the nation's top runners, Michael Rutt of UConn, to earn the Skyhawks lone top spot at the U.R.I Invitational.

Keith's record setting run defeated the previous school record, held by Fran Guardabascio, by nearly four seconds.  He bestest his personal mark by near five seconds.  Gill's 2.25.01 currently holds the top spot as the fastest 1000 meter time in New England.

The men and women will compete in the Reebok Invitational this weekend.  The event begins at 4 p.m.
