Kevin Gill is just one of two freshmen competing in the 1-mile event at the 2008 Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships.



Indianapolis, Ind. - Senior Keith Gill (Brockton, Mass./Brockton) headlines a group of five Stonehill track and field student-athletes who will compete at the 2008 NCAA Division II Men's Indoor Track and Field Championships the NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Track and Field Committee announced on Tuesday.

Gill, who owns the nation's fastest time in the mile run at 4:03.43, will be joined in that event by senior Dickie Gerry (Bow, N.H./Bow) and younger brother, Kevin Gill (Brockton, Mass./Brockton). Kevin Gill and Harding's Daniel Kirwa are the only two freshman in the 14 person field in the one mile run.

Senior David Metzger (Ellington, Conn./Ellington) qualified for the 5000 meter run with a time of 14:34.92 at the Boston University Invitational on February 9. A versatile runner, Metzger, earned All-New England accolades in the 3000 meter event, and was the Northeast-10 champion in the one-mile run.

The trio of Keith Gill, Kevin Gill, Gerry and senior Tom Woods (Medfield, Mass./Medfield) will participate in the distance medley after posting the nation's fourth fastest time (9:56.89) at the Tufts Invite on February 2.

A total of 400 participants will compete in the championships, which will be held Friday, March 14 and Saturday, March 15 in Mankato, Minnesota at Myers Field House with Minnesota State University-Mankato serving as the host.
