BOSTON, Mass.-- Both Stonehill indoor track and field teams enjoyed successful performances at the non-scoring Boston University Valentine Classic over the weekend at the Case Center, including a school record and national best effort on the men's side to go with three New England qualifying efforts on the women's side.

The men's distance medley relay team of senior Brandon Beloin (Killingly, Conn.) and juniors David Metzger (Ellington, Conn.), Dickie Gerry (Bow, N.H.) and Keith Gill (Brockton, Mass.) set a school record in the event with a time of 9:53 and in the process ran the fastest time in the country in Division II to date, besting Abilene Christian's mark in the event by nearly four seconds. Gill helped the Skyhawks set the mark by running a 4:03 anchor time in the mile after setting a school record in the 800 meters on Friday evening, posting a time of 1:52 to finish eighth overall in the event as the top Division II entrant. Sophomore Torrey Price (Sleepy Hollow, N.Y.) also posted another stellar effort for Stonehill in the 55 meters, as he finished third in a field of 113 competitors with a time of 6.42 seconds, the fastest of any Division II runner in the event.

On the women's side, freshman Bridget DeVincent (Attleboro, Mass.) qualified for the New England Championships in the 5,000 meters with a time of 18:13, while senior Kelly Chaisson (Walpole, Mass.) also qualified for the all-New Englands in the 3,000 meters with a time of 10:23. Sophomore Kristina Coriarty (Brockton, Mass.) also qualified for the New England Championships in the 800 meters for the Skyhawks, posting a time of 2:20.5 in the event.

Both Stonehill teams will compete for their respective Northeast-10 Conference Championships next Friday afternoon at the 2007 league event hosted at Southern Connecticut's Moore Fieldhouse beginning at 4:00 p.m.
