BOSTON, Mass.-- Both Stonehill indoor track & field teams began their respective 2005-2006 seasons on Saturday afternoon with solid individual performances at the Northeastern New Balance Winter Carnival held at the Reggie Lewis Center.

Junior Vinnie Williams (Springfield, Mass.) led the way on the men's side with a pair of fifth place finishes in the 55 meters (6.61 seconds) and 200 meters (22.86), respectively, while freshman Torrey Price (Sleepy Hollow, N.Y.) placed fourth in the 55 meters with a time of 6.60 seconds. The men's 4 X 400 relay team of junior Derek Hebert (Rockland, Mass.), sophomore Thomas Woods (Medfield, Mass.), junior Brandon Beloin (Danielson, Conn.) and senior Paul Viggiano (Trumbull, Conn.) set a school record in the event by posting a time of 3:25.70 that was good for fourth place.

On the women's side, freshman Kasey Black (Hanson, Mass.) led the way for the Skyhawks by placing sixth in the 3,000 meters with a time of 10:53.52.

Both Stonehill squads will be idle until Friday, January 20th when the Skyhawks head to Kingston, R.I. to participate in the University of Rhode Island Invitational that begins at 10:00 a.m.
