Mary Scores Early, Late In 12-2 Loss

Kissimmee, Fla. - The University of Mary scored five runs in the first four innings and then six more in the top of the seventh to take a 12-2 win over Stonehill in the Skyhawks' second game at the Rebel Games in Kissimmee, Fla.

Katie Mottau (Woonsocket, R.I.) went five innings, giving up seven hits and five runs, only two of which were earned.

With the score 5-0, Stonehill closed the gap with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth. A leadoff single from Kate Brides (West Bridgewater, Mass.) started everything off. A two-out double from Courtney Young (Danvers, Mass.) scored Brides and Young eventually came around to score on a Caitlin Flanagan (Cornwall, N.Y.) single.

The Marauders would have an answer however, to the tune of six runs in the seventh, highlighted by a two-run double from Megan Ward.

She finished the day 3-for-5 with three RBI and three runs scored. Designated hitter Lauren Benavidez also had a big day for Mary, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.

Brides, Lauren Rappoli (Wilmington, Mass.) and Flanagan all had two hits apiece for the Skyhawks.
