EASTON, Mass.-- Sophomore Yesenia Marrero (Brockton, Mass.) went a perfect 6-for-6 and drove in four runs to lead Stonehill to a sweep of a Northeast-10 Conference softball doubleheader from Saint Rose on Sunday afternoon by scores of 6-1 in the opener and 4-1 in the nightcap in games played at Gartland Field.

A pair of Marrero RBI singles in the first and third innings of the opener staked the host Skyhawks (10-18, 9-9 Northeast-10) to a 2-0 lead, and Stonehill added two runs in the fifth on an RBI single by sophomore Courtney Young (Danvers, Mass.) and a fielder's choice groundout by sophomore Meghan Sheehy (East Islip, N.Y.) to extend its lead to 4-0. Marrero then completed a 4-for-4 effort in the first contest by belting a two-run homer, her second of the spring, in the sixth to close out the hosts' scoring, and an RBI groundout by sophomore Katie Wiemann (Huntington Station, N.Y.) in the seventh accounted for the lone run of the opener by the visiting Golden Knights (9-15, 4-10 Northeast-10). Young and junior Stephanie Folan (Glen Cove, N.Y.) each rapped out two hits in support of freshman Kait Mendall (Middleboro, Mass.) on the mound for the Skyhawks, as she allowed just two hits and the unearned run while fanning five to improve to 4-5 on the season. Junior Kristen Calahan (LaGrange, N.Y.) allowed just three earned runs and struck out six in taking the setback on the mound for Saint Rose in the opener, falling to 7-7 on the season.

A Marrero double that was followed by junior Caitlin Flanagan's (Cornwall, N.Y.) RBI single in the third inning gave Stonehill a 1-0 lead in the nightcap, and the Skyhawks received a solo homer off the bat of Folan (her first of the year) that was followed by a two-run blast from junior Jaime Ippolito (Chelsea, Mass.), her fourth of the spring, in plating three fifth inning runs to take a 4-0 advantage. Wiemann's second RBI of the day, a run-scoring single in the sixth, accounted for the lone Golden Knight run of the second contest, as Marrero, Flanagan and Sheehy each had two hits to back a six-hit complete-game effort on the mound by sophomore Katie Mottau (Woonsocket, R.I.) for Stonehill, as she fanned five to improve to 5-5 on the season. Wiemann and freshman Amanda Morano (Highland, N.Y.) each had two hits in the second game setback for Saint Rose, as sophomore Nicole Welch (Albany, N.Y.) fanned six in taking the setback on the mound for the Golden Knights.

Stonehill hosts Southern Connecticut in a Northeast-10 twinbill on Tuesday afternoon at Gartland Field beginning at 3:00 p.m., while Saint Rose hosts Saint Michael's in a Northeast-10 doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon in Rotterdam, N.Y. beginning at 4:00 p.m.
