ORLANDO, Fla.-- The 2007 Stonehill softball season began on Saturday morning with a pair of setbacks at the Rebel Spring Games, as the Skyhawks dropped a 7-1 opening game decision to Central Missouri before falling by a 9-4 final to Northern Kentucky at the Osceola County Softball Complex.

Junior Lauren Rappoli (Wilmington, Mass.) collected four hits in the two contests for the Skyhawks and drove in a run against Northern Kentucky, while fellow junior Jaime Ippolito (Chelsea, Mass.) and sophomore Yesenia Marrero (Brockton, Mass.) each added a pair of hits as well against the Norse. Junior Gina Vivona (Seaford, N.Y.) collected two hits, including a triple, in the opener against Central Missouri, while sophomore Meghan Sheehy (East Islip, N.Y.) drove in the lone run against the Jennies.

Junior Danielle Mason (Salisbury, Mass.) took the loss on the mound in the opener for Stonehill, while freshman Kait Mendall (Middleboro, Mass.) suffered the setback in the nightcap in the circle for the Skyhawks.

Stonehill continues play at the Rebel Spring Games on Sunday morning by taking on South Dakota at 11:00 a.m. and Lewis at 3:00 p.m. at the Osceola Country Softball Complex.
