SYRACUSE, N.Y.-- The Stonehill softball team dropped a Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader to LeMoyne on Monday afternoon by scores of 9-1 in the opener and 7-6 in the nightcap in games played at the Niland Complex.

The host Dolphins (20-14, 12-6 Northeast-10) reached the 20-win plateau for the seventh straight season with the sweep, as LeMoyne overcame an early 1-0 deficit in the opener by plating four runs in the second and five more tallies over the next three frames, as junior Kristen DesLauriers (Liverpool, N.Y.) and freshman Jennifer Farrelly (Latham, N.Y.) each had two hits and two RBI for the winners, who also received three hits from senior Ashley Anderson (Liverpool, N.Y.). Sophomore Sarah Reed (DeWitt, N.Y.) benefited from a 13-hit attack in the opener to improve to 10-7 on the mound for LeMoyne, as she allowed three hits, including sophomore Jaime Ippolito's (Chelsea, Mass.) first home run of the spring for the visiting Skyhawks (16-15-1, 9-10-1 Northeast-10).

LeMoyne jumped out to a 6-0 lead in its first at-bat in the nightcap, but Stonehill responded with six runs in the third to even matters, as a two-run single by freshman Yesenia Marrero (Brockton, Mass.) and an RBI double by freshman Katie Mottau (Woonsocket, R.I.) enabled the Skyhawks to close to within 6-3 before sophomore Lauren Polselli's (Portsmouth, R.I.) three-run homer (her first of the season) tied the game. DesLauriers gave the Dolphins what proved to be the game-winning RBI with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the third that closed out the scoring, as Farrelly picked up the win on the mound for the hosts with four relief innings. Reed, junior Lindsay Spaziani (Horseheads, N.Y.) and sophomore Kortney Meadows (Orchard Park, N.Y.) each had two hits in the win for LeMoyne, while Marrero and freshman Courtney Young (Danvers, Mass.) each had two hits for Stonehill, as Mottau went the distance to fall to 6-6 on the season.

Stonehill travels to New Haven, Conn. on Wednesday afternoon to take on Southern Connecticut in a Northeast-10 doubleheader that begins at 3:30 p.m., while LeMoyne heads to Colchester, Vt. on Thursday afternoon to take on Saint Michael's in a league twinbill at 3:30 p.m.
