WORCESTER, Mass.-- Third-seeded Bentley used four singles victories to post a 5-2 triumph over second-seeded Stonehill in semi-final round play of the 2006 Northeast-10 Conference Men's Tennis Championships Saturday afternoon at Assumption College's Plourde Center.

The Falcons, now 14-10 on the season, advance to meet top-seeded Assumption in Sunday morning's championship match at 10:30 a.m., as the Greyhounds posted 5-0 win over fourth-seeded Bryant in Saturday's other semi-final contest.

Juniors Greg Maloomian (Needham, Mass.) and Greg Avola (Framingham, Mass.) were winners in both singles and doubles play for Bentley, which also received singles triumphs from junior Mike McCrillis (Kennebunkport, Maine) and freshman Miles Holman (East Longmeadow, Mass.).

Junior Matt Grabala (Bristol, Conn.) and freshman Jason Allegretti (Lincoln, R.I.) were 8-5 winners at the number two doubles spot for Stonehill, which drops to 15-5 on the season with the setback, as the Skyhawks claimed their other point with an 8-1 triumph by junior Andy DeVita (Milford, Mass.) and sophomore Michael Allen (Norwell, Mass.) at number three doubles.

Stonehill will await word of a possible berth in the NCAA Division II Championships, as selections for the 64-team field will be announced on Wednesday.
