COLCHESTER, Vt.-- The Stonehill men’s tennis team claimed its fourth win in the last five outings on Sunday afternoon by notching an 8-1 Northeast-10 Conference dual-match triumph over Saint Michael’s at the Tarrant Center.

Senior Kevin Charland (North Scituate, R.I.), junior Mike Pelaggi (Dedham, Mass.), sophomore Andy DeVita (Milford, Mass.) and freshman John McGaffigan (Dedham, Mass.) were winners in both singles and doubles play for the visiting Chieftains (4-2, 4-2 Northeast-10), who swept all three doubles contests and took five of the six singles outings, including three triumphs in tie-breakers. Junior Matt Hansen (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) added a win at number six singles for Stonehill, while Pelaggi teamed with sophomore Matt Grabala (Bristol, Conn.) for a 9-8 win at number one doubles and DeVita matched up with sophomore Al Santosuosso (Reading, Mass.) for an 8-4 triumph at the number three doubles spot for the visitors.

Freshman Andy Samara (South Burlington, Vt.) was the lone winner on the day for the host Purple Knights (1-6, 1-5 Northeast-10), as he claimed a win over Grabala at the number one singles spot in a tie-breaker.

Stonehill hosts Saint Anselm in a Northeast-10 dual-match on Tuesday afternoon on the Stonehill Courts beginning at 2:30 p.m., while Saint Michael’s will also host Saint Anselm in its next Northeast-10 outing on Thursday afternoon at the Tarrant Center beginning at 3:30 p.m.
