EASTON, Mass.-- The Stonehill men’s tennis team claimed its third straight victory and sixth win in its last seven outings on Thursday afternoon by posting a 9-0 Northeast-10 Conference dual-match triumph over Merrimack on the Stonehill Courts.

Senior Kevin Charland (North Scituate, R.I.), junior Mike Pelaggi (Dedham, Mass.), sophomores Matt Grabala (Bristol, Conn.) and Andy DeVita (Milford, Mass.) along with freshman John McGaffigan (Dedham, Mass.) were winners in both singles and doubles play for the host Chieftains (6-2, 6-2 Northeast-10), as Stonehill won all six singles contests in straight sets. Junior Matt Hansen (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) added a triumph at the number six singles spot for the hosts, while DeVita teamed with sophomore Al Santosuosso (Reading, Mass.) for an 8-0 win at the number three doubles spot.

The visiting Warriors fall to 1-5 overall and 1-4 in Northeast-10 play with the setback.

Stonehill travels to Smithfield, R.I. on Saturday afternoon to take on Bryant in a Northeast-10 dual-match that begins at 1:00 p.m., while Merrimack hosts Southern New Hampshire in a Northeast-10 dual-match on Saturday afternoon in North Andover, Mass. beginning at 12:30 p.m.
