RINDGE, N.H.-- The Stonehill men’s tennis team closed out regular season play on Wednesday afternoon by dropping a 6-3 Northeast-10 Conference dual-match decision to Franklin Pierce on the FPC Courts.

Senior Ryan Jones (Westfield, N.J.) and freshman Austin Gardella (Norwalk, Conn.) were winners in both singles and doubles play in the triumph for the host Ravens (9-12, 6-2 Northeast-10), who also received singles wins from junior Arun Lazarus (Brandenton, Fla.) and freshman Helder Nogueira (Lowell, Mass.) as well as an 8-4 triumph at the number three doubles spot from seniors Maciej Szpakowski (South Holt, N.Y.) and J.P. Morgan (Hampton Bays, N.Y.).

Sophomore Andy DeVita (Milford, Mass.) and freshman John McGaffigan (Dedham, Mass.) each posted wins in singles play for the visiting Chieftains (7-4, 7-4 Northeast-10) at the number three and five spots in the lineup, while junior Mike Pelaggi (Dedham, Mass.) and sophomore Matt Grabala (Bristol, Conn.) teamed up for an 8-4 win at the number one doubles position for Stonehill.

Stonehill will await its seeding in the upcoming Northeast-10 Championships, which begin next Wednesday afternoon with quarterfinal round action. Franklin Pierce continues regular season play on Thursday afternoon by heading to Smithfield, R.I. to take on Bryant in a Northeast-10 dual-match that begins at 3:30 p.m.
