Easton, Mass. - The Skyhawks used a strong defense and timely scoring from junior captain Shaun Keeley (Woburn, Mass.) to propel Stonehill past a physical Briarcliffe squad 3-0.

The game was tight for much of the first half with each team trading shots. The Skyhawks finally broke through in the 40th minute when Keeley took a Michael White (Lisbon, N.H.) pass and put it into the back of the net for a 1-0 lead.

Just five minutes later a Briarcliffe foul inside the six gave Keeley a penalty kick, which he nailed home.  The half would end 2-0 in favor of Stonehill.

The score remained 2-0 until the 73rd minute when Mark Bolster (Narragansett, R.I.) took a Stephen Day (North Haven, Conn.) cross and headed it in to give the Skyhawks a three goal lead.

Keeper Brandon McFarlane (Norwich, Conn.) turned away seven Seahawk shots in match that featured eight yellow cards and 42 fouls between the two squads.

With the win the Skyhawks improve to 2-2 on the season.  Stonehill next takes the field when they play host to Queens at Skyhawk field on Saturday, September 20.
