WORCESTER, Mass.-- Junior Joe Drain's (Milton, Mass.) goal 5:50 into the second half held up as the game-winner as Assumption posted a 1-0 Northeast-10 Conference men's soccer victory over Stonehill Saturday afternoon at Multi-Purpose Stadium.

Drain's unassisted marker lifted the host Greyhounds (1-8-1, 1-5-1 Northeast-10), who tied nationally-ranked UMass Lowell earlier in the week, to their first triumph of the season, as senior Brett Miller (Franklin, Mass.) made four saves to pick up his second shutout of the season in net for Assumption.

Sophomore Danny Kerl (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) made four stops in goal in the setback for the visiting Skyhawks (5-5, 2-5 Northeast-10), as the Greyhounds outshot Stonehill by a slim 12-10 margin for the contest. Assumption had seven shots in the opening 45 minutes of play, while the Skyhawks turned that same trick in the second half but were unable to score.

Stonehill hosts Post in a non-league match on Wednesday afternoon at Skyhawk Field beginning at 4:00 p.m., while Assumption heads to North Andover, Mass. on Wednesday evening to take on Merrimack in a Northeast-10 outing that begins at 7:00 p.m.
