EASTON, Mass.-- Freshman Shaun Keeley's (Woburn, Mass.) goal in the 56th minute of play proved to be the game-winner as Stonehill posted a 1-0 Northeast-10 Conference men's soccer victory over American International Friday evening at W.B. Mason Stadium.

Keeley converted feeds from senior Joseph Sousa (Shelton, Conn.) and junior Daniel Gomes (Brockton, Mass.) for his third tally of the season to lift the host Skyhawks (7-9, 3-8 Northeast-10) to the triumph in the first-ever night match played on campus, and sophomore Danny Kerl (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) made that stand up in goal for Stonehill by making three saves to record his fifth victory and shutout of the season.

The two teams played a scoreless first half of action despite a 6-4 Skyhawk edge in shots before Keeley's second half tally, as Stonehill had three corner kick opportunities in the opening 45 minutes of action as well. Senior Michael Murphy (Ithaca, N.Y.) made six stops in net for the visiting Yellow Jackets (7-7-1, 5-6 Northeast-10) as the Skyhawks outshot American International by an 11-8 margin.

Stonehill, which has posted its highest single-season win total in seven years, closes out its home slate on Wednesday afternoon when the Skyhawks entertain Saint Anselm in a Northeast-10 outing at Skyhawk Field that begins at 3:30 p.m. American International heads to Worcester, Mass. on Tuesday evening to take on Assumption in a Northeast-10 match that begins at 7:00 p.m.
