NE-10 Release

South Easton, Mass. - Senior captain and forward Brendan O'Brien (Braintree, Mass.) has been named to the Northeast-10 All-Conference First-Team, while sophomore goaltender Derek Chapdelaine (Granby, Mass.) made the Second-Team as announced by the conference late Friday afternoon. Freshman Andrew Diozzi (Belmont, Mass.) was named to the NE-10 All-Rookie Team as well.

O'Brien is the first player in NE-10 history to earn First-Team All-Conference Honors in four straight seasons.  The senior leads the Skyhawks with 30 points this season, scoring  seven goals and a dishing out a team high 23 assists.  He is also first in the NE-10 in both points per game (1.43) and assists per game (1.10). The senior had one of his best games of the year in a 6-3 win over Salve Regina, totaling a season high four assists in the win.  This season O'Brien also extended his own school record for assists in a career to 110, becoming the first player in Stonehill history to surpass the century mark. His 147 total points place him second on the all-time scoring list, trailing only Rob Pascale (160).

Chapdelaine is the second Skyhawk goalie in as many years to receive all-conference recognition after Mike Manna's first-team selection a year ago. The sophomore netminder led Stonehill with a 6-5 record and was the only goaltender in the Northeast-10 with a winning record.  Chapdelaine was the anchor of a defense which game up a conference low 3.64 goals per game. He finished with 335 saves and an .896 save percentage while playing 6:41.43. During one two game stretch, he stopped a combined 61 shots, while allowing just three goals in victories over Framingham State and Westfield State.

Diozzi has been one of Stonehill's most consistent players over the past two months. After not playing in the Skyhawks first four games of the season, the freshman scored in his first contest, a 5-4 overtime loss to Curry.  He also scored the game tying goal and assisted on the game winner in overtime in Stonehill's first victory of the season, a 4-3 win over Assumption. The freshman also had a goal and an assist in the Skyhawks 5-0 beating of Franklin Pierce in the quarterfinals of the NE-10 tournament on Saturday. In Diozzi's 17 games this season he has three games with at least two points and is sixth on the team in scoring with 14 points (six goals, eight assists).

The Skyhawks return to action on Wednesday, March 4 at 7:00 p.m., when they travel to take on first seed St. Anselm in the semifinals of the NE-10 Tournament.
