Icers Have New Home For 2008-09 Season

Foxboro Sports Center

Easton, Mass. - When the puck drops on the 2008-09 Stonehill College Hockey season, the Skyhawks will have a new place to call home. The Department of Athletics has entered into an agreement with the Foxboro Sports Center, a state-of-the-art facility less than 10 miles from the Stonehill campus.

"We are thrilled to have our student-athletes playing in a facility that provides the unbelievable service and unmatched game environment that Foxboro does," said Stonehill Director of Athletics, Brendan Sullivan.

The Skyhawks, who were picked first in the preseason coaches' poll which was released on Thursday, open their season on November 13 at their new home against Plymouth State.

The new arena features two NHL regulation sized rinks, a synthetic ice practice room, a 6,000 square foot workout facility, a full service café and a Grand Mezzanine perfect for large functions.

"I think it is a symptom of the fact that this program is going in the right direction," said second year head coach Garry Hebert. "It's a whole new grand caliber of facility which tells you something about that College's commitment to this program."

Stonehill will play its games in Rink two which is adorned with the school's "Flying ‘S'" logo in the ice and two banners hanging from the rafters, one of which commemorates the championship season from 2006-07. In addition to those amenities, the Skyhawks have their own lockerroom and will have new uniforms when they take the ice.
