BOSTON, Mass.-- Junior Dan Pencinger (Randolph, N.J.) and sophomore Alex Olson (Hingham, Mass.) each netted a pair of goals and an assist for three points in leading Suffolk to an 8-5 ECAC Northeast ice hockey victory over Stonehill Saturday evening at Walter Brown Arena.

The host Rams (5-12-1, 4-5 ECAC Northeast) jumped out to a 2-0 lead just 10:44 into the contest on markers off the sticks of sophomore John Rocchio (East Greenwich, R.I.) and freshman Bryan Smusz (Daleville, Mass.), but the visiting Skyhawks got on the board on a power play tally by sophomore James Florentino (West Roxbury, Mass.) just 1:30 later. Senior John Delaney's (Quincy, Mass.) goal with 2:29 remaining in the opening stanza gave Suffolk a 3-1 lead after 20 minutes of action, and power play goals of the sticks of junior Matt Curran (Scarborough, Maine) and sophomore Brendan O'Brien (Braintree, Mass.) in the first 7:06 of the second stanza, sandwiching a marker by Ram sophomore Ryan Collins (Amesbury, Mass.), sliced Stonehill's deficit to 4-3. A pair of Olson goals, combined with a Pencinger shorthanded tally, offset Curran's second goal of the period and gave the hosts a 7-4 lead after two, and after freshman Chris Rogers (Westford, Mass.) cut the Skyhawk gap to two with a power play goal 8:23 into the final period, Pencinger provided an insurance marker with 37 seconds remaining in the contest to ice the Suffolk triumph.

Rocchio added a pair of assists to join both Pencinger and Olson with three points in the win for Suffolk, which also received three assists off the stick of freshman Nick Davis (Pittsburgh, Pa.) as well a pair of helpers from freshman Mike Mondello (Revere, Mass.). Rogers notched an assist to go with his goal for a two-point night in the setback for Stonehill, which also received a pair of assists from junior Brian Davis (Foxboro, Mass.) as well as single helpers off the sticks of senior John Durkin (Scituate, Mass.), junior Anthony Zanetti (Ludlow, Mass.) and sophomores Billy Ninteau (Litchfield, N.H.) and James Killeen (Derry, N.H.).

Sophomore Mark Grignon (Grosse Point, Mich.) picked up the win in goal for Suffolk with a 21-save effort, while seniors Matt Gorman (Southboro, Mass.) and Josh Green (Mendon, Mass.) combined for 29 stops in net for Stonehill as the Rams outshot the Skyhawks by a 37-26 margin for the contest.

Stonehill hosts Nichols in a non-league match-up on Wednesday evening at the Bridgewater Ice Arena beginning at 7:40 p.m., while Suffolk travels to West Springfield, Mass. on Tuesday evening to take on Western New England in an ECAC Northeast outing that faces off at 8:30 p.m.
