POMFRET, Conn.-- Sophomore Rocco Dabecco's (South Park, Pa.) goal 3:44 into overtime capped a late two-goal comeback and lifted Nichols to a 5-4 ECAC Northeast ice hockey victory over Stonehill Saturday afternoon at the Jahn Rink.

Dabecco's game-winner came after fellow sophomore Cole Ruwe (Pekin, Ill.) forced the extra session by evening matters at 4-4 with a minute to play in regulation with the extra skater for the host Bison (4-0-1, 3-0 ECAC Northeast). Nichols grabbed a 2-0 lead on a first period goal by senior Corey Horner (South Bend, Ind.) and a marker off the stick of sophomore Anthony Monte (Chicago, Ill.) 23 seconds into the middle stanza, but junior Matt Curran's (Scarborough, Maine) power play goal with 5:41 to play in the period enabled the visiting Skyhawks (1-4, 0-3 ECAC Northeast) to pull to within 2-1 after two.

Sophomore Kyle Cook's (Chino, Calif.) power play goal 2:45 into the third period gave the Bison a 3-1 cushion, but Stonehill came roaring back with three unanswered markers to take a 4-3 lead, as sophomore Frank Cavaliere's (Winthrop, Mass.) sliced the Skyhawk deficit to 3-2 at the 5:40 mark of the frame before tallies by Curran and freshman Chris Rogers (Westford, Mass.) that came 27 seconds apart staked the visitors to a 4-3 lead, setting up Ruwe's game-tying heroics and Dabecco's game-winner for Nichols.

Dabecco added an assist to go with his game-winning tally for the Bison, who also received two assists each from freshmen Kris Kranzsky (Glendora, Calif.) and Zeke Costello (Shelby Township, Mich.) as well as single helpers off the sticks of Cook, sophomore Glenn Carcaro (Sioux Falls, S.D.) and freshman Eric Cremer (Chelsea, Mich.). Freshman Pete Roundy (Simsbury, Conn.) notched a pair of assists in the setback for Stonehill, which also received single helpers from senior Evan Spencer (Billerica, Mass.), sophomore Billy Ninteau (Litchfield, N.H.) and freshman Zachary Cantin (Walpole, Mass.).

Sophomore Keith Fink (Easton, Md.) picked up the win in goal for Nichols with a 44-save effort, while senior Matt Gorman (Southboro, Mass.) made a school-record 60 stops in net in the setback for Stonehill, breaking the previous mark of 56 saves set on two previous occasions in the early 1990's. Gorman made 44 saves in the final 43-plus minutes of action alone as the Bison outshot the Skyhawks by a 65-48 margin for the day.

Stonehill travels to Fitchburg, Mass. on Tuesday evening to take on Fitchburg State in an ECAC Northeast outing that begins at 7:00 p.m., while Nichols travels to Portsmouth, R.I. on Tuesday evening to take on Salve Regina in an ECAC Northeast match-up that begins at 6:30 p.m.
