FITCHBURG, Mass.-- Senior Mike Dryer's (Rockland, Mass.) second goal of the contest 58 seconds into overtime lifted Fitchburg State to a 5-4 ECAC Northeast ice hockey victory over Stonehill Tuesday evening at the Wallace Civic Center.

Dryer's game-winner came on a feed from fellow senior Ryan Moore (Randolph, Mass.), who netted a hat trick on the night for the host Falcons (4-1-1, 1-1 ECAC Northeast). Dryer's first marker of the game, a power play goal with 10:36 remaining in regulation, gave Fitchburg State a 4-3 lead midway through the final stanza, but junior John Durkin's (Scituate, Mass.) power play tally with 3:36 to play in regulation enabled the visiting Skyhawks (1-5, 0-4 ECAC Northeast) to force overtime, setting up Dryer's heroics in the extra session.

Goals off the sticks of juniors Anthony Zanetti (Ludlow, Mass.) and Matt Curran (Scarborough, Maine) that sandwiched Moore's first tally of the night staked Stonehill to a 2-1 lead after one, but Moore completed his hat trick that came around Durkin's first marker of the night to even matters at 3-3 after 40 minutes of action.

Dryer, Moore and sophomore Matt Arsenault (Gardner, Mass.) each notched a pair of assists in the win for Fitchburg State, which also received a helper off the stick of sophomore Aaron Tiernan (Anchorage, Ak.), while sophomores Frank Amato (West Springfield, Mass.) and Paul Reissfelder (Plymouth, Mass.), along with freshmen Zachary Cantin (Walpole, Mass.) and Mike Daraio (Harrison, N.Y.), each collected single assists in the setback for Stonehill.

Junior Devan McConnell (Lake Stevens, Wash.) picked up the win in goal for Fitchburg State with an 18-save effort, while senior Matt Gorman (Southboro, Mass.) made 32 stops in net for Stonehill as the Falcons outshot the Skyhawks by a 37-22 margin for the contest.

Stonehill hosts Curry in an ECAC Northeast outing next Wednesday evening (November 29th) at the Bridgewater Ice Arena beginning at 6:40 p.m., while Fitchburg State will travel to New Bedford, Mass. next Wednesday evening for a non-league contest with UMass Dartmouth that begins at 7:30 p.m.
