BRIDGEWATER, Mass.-- Sophomore Matt Curran (Scarborough, Maine) netted a pair of goals and an assist for three points, while junior Josh Green (Mendon, Mass.) stopped 22 shots for his first collegiate shutout in leading Stonehill to a 5-0 ECAC Northeast ice hockey victory over Worcester State Saturday evening at the Bridgewater Ice Arena.

Senior Billy Sylvia (Acushnet, Mass.) gave the host Skyhawks (6-6, 3-5 ECAC Northeast) the only goal they would need 3:18 into the contest by converting a Curran feed for a shorthanded goal, and Curran netted the next two Stonehill markers, including the lone score of the middle stanza, for a 3-0 Skyhawk advantage after two. Freshman James Florentino (West Roxbury, Mass.) extended the hosts' edge to 4-0 midway through the final period, and sophomore John Durkin's (Scituate, Mass.) power play goal with 2:51 remaining iced the Stonehill triumph.

Freshman Brendan O'Brien (Braintree, Mass.) recorded his third three-assist game of the season in the win for Stonehill, which also received a pair of helpers off the stick of senior Brian Dudley (Waltham, Mass.). Seniors Brian Lewis (Cohasset, Mass.) and Craig Pasquantonio (Randolph, Mass.), as well as junior Matt Pollara (Plymouth, Mass.), notched single assists on the night for the Skyhawks.

Green made 14 stops over the first two periods of play to pick up the shutout win in goal for Stonehill, his third triumph of the season, while freshman Jason Richardson (Perkasie, Pa.) made 35 saves in net for the visiting Lancers (1-14-2, 1-7 ECAC Northeast) as the Skyhawks outshot Worcester State by a 40-22 margin to pick up their second win of the season over the visitors.

Stonehill hosts Wentworth in an ECAC Northeast outing on Tuesday evening at the Bridgewater Ice Arena beginning at 7:45 p.m., while Worcester State travels to Winchendon, Mass. on Wednesday evening to take on Franklin Pierce in an ECAC Northeast match-up that faces-off at 7:00 p.m.
