Old Westbury, N.Y. - Juniors Nick Smith (Colonia, N.J.) and Matt Hall (Springfield, Mass.) combined for 38 points on 15-for-23 shooting, leading six players in double figures as the Skyhawks collected a 93-79 win in the first game of the New York Tech Classic on Friday evening.

With a 12 point lead at the intermission, Stonehill used a 7-0 run to up their lead to 50-31 less than two minutes into the half. The Knights had the lead down to 11 at 63-52, when a trio of freshmen, Vince Rosario (Perth Amboy, N.Y.), Mike Kernan (Shawnee, N.J.) and Dan Heppert (Benedictine, Va.) scored the next 15 Stonehill points, pushing the bulge to 20 at 78-58 with six minutes to go.

Stonehill shot a blistering 60 percent in the final 20 minutes and 57 percent for the game, including draining 13 of their 26 three-point attempts, while holding the Knights just a 35 percent mark in the first half when they built their lead.

The Skyhawks got huge production from their bench, outscoring their counterparts, 43-10.

Smith netted a team-high 20 points, while Hall added 18. Queens' Mike Liander took game honors with 24 points and seven rebounds. Joining Smith and Hall in double figures for Stonehill were Kernan (11 points), Rosario (12 points), Heppert (10 points) and Nikola Stevanovic (Belgrade, Serbia), who also added 10.

Randall Stallworth (Toms River, N.J.) had his second straight game with double figure assists, as he handed out 10 helpers to go along with his seven points and five rebounds.

With the win, Stonehill evens its overall record at 2-2 and returns to action on Saturday when they face the host Bears at 5 p.m.
