Orangeburg, N.Y. - Sophomore A.J. Rudowitz (Monroe, Township, N.J.) led a quartet of Skyhawks in double figures with a season-high 21 points, as Stonehill outpaced a hard-charging Dominican College squad, 91-84 at Hennessey Center on Sunday afternoon.

With the Chargers holding a 22-21 lead halfway through the opening half, they exploded for 11 straight points, giving them their biggest lead of the game at 33-21. Stonehill responded with a run of their own moments later, running off 14 unanswered points, highlighted by a three pointer from junior Colin Scanlon (Centreville, Va.) and layups from Rudowitz, Matt Hall (Springfield, Mass.) and Kevin Wilkins (New Windsor, N.Y.).

A free throw from the Chargers' Brandon Brock stopped the Skyhawk scoring spree, but Stonehill put together an 8-2 run to close the half on the strength of triples from Hall and freshman Vince Rosario (Perth Amboy, N.J.).

Dominican had the game tied at 54-54 early in the second half but a 16-5 run gave Stonehill a 70-59 lead. The Chargers answered back trimming the lead to 70-64, but Stonehill again had an answer, reeling off 16 of the next 22 points to put the game away.

Both teams shot better than 50 percent from the field, with the Skyhawks connecting on 56 percent overall and 55 percent from beyond the arc, while the Chargers made 52 percent from the field but only 6-of-18 from three-point territory.

Stonehill held a small edge on the boards 32-30 and turned 15 Dominican turnovers into 18 points.

Nick Smith (Colonia, N.J.), who scored 14 of his points in the second half, added 20 points for the Skyhawks and Rosario added 15, making five of his seven three-point attempts to go along with four assists. Hall chipped in with 14 points and four assists before fouling out, while freshman Mike Kernan (Medford, N.J.) totaled nine points and six rebounds.

Brock's 15 points led Dominican, who falls to 5-4, while the Skyhawks improve to 8-6.

Stonehill, which now has no non-league games remaining on their schedule, returns to the hardwood on Wednesday when it plays host to St. Anselm at Merkert Gymnasium at 7:30 p.m.
