McLaughlin Coaches East Squad In Inaugural Collegiate Basketball Invitational All-Star Game Before Live National Television Audience On ESPNU Saturday Evening

April 21, 2007

Stonehill Head Men's Basketball Coach David McLaughlin was in the national spotlight once again on Saturday evening, as he coached the East All-Star squad in the inaugural Collegiate Basketball Invitational All-Star Game before a live national television audience on ESPNU.

The inaugural contest, played in Wadsworth, Ohio, matched top collegiate stars from NCAA Divisions II and III as well as the NAIA against each other in a showcase event. McLaughlin, who last month coached the East All-Star squad in the second annual National Association of Basketball Coaches Division All-Star Classic during the 2007 NCAA Division II Elite Eight in Springfield, saw his East squad drop a 120-114 decision in last night's affair.

McLaughlin, who sports a 68-39 (.636) mark in four seasons at Stonehill, guided the Skyhawks to the NCAA Division II Final Four in 2006 with a school-record 27 win campaign that included the school's first NCAA Northeast Regional crown and first Northeast-10 Conference championship in eight years. His Collegiate Basketball Invitational East squad included the Most Outstanding Player of this year's Elite Eight, guard Anthony Atkinson of national champion Barton College, as well as three individuals who also participated in this year's Elite Eight in Greg Brown and Marcus Kennedy of Montevallo as well as Zack Wright of Central Missouri.
