EASTON, Mass.-- Senior Marquis Taylor (Los Angeles, Calif.) scored 18 points to lead five players in double figures as Stonehill shot 50 percent from the field en route to a 92-70 Northeast-10 Conference men's basketball victory over Saint Michael's Sunday afternoon at Merkert Gymnasium.

The host Skyhawks (3-1, 1-1 Northeast-10) scored 10 of the game's first 12 points en route to an 18-point lead (29-11) midway through the first half before settling for a 46-35 advantage at the break. Stonehill then began the half with a 14-7 run to take a 60-42 lead with just over 16 minutes remaining, but the visiting Purple Knights (1-3, 0-1 Northeast-10) answered back with an 11-3 run of their own to slice their deficit to seven at 63-56 on a three-pointer by junior Brendan Mullins (Downers Grove, Ill.) with 10:04 to play. The Skyhawks responded with a 17-4 run over the next 5:04 of play to take a 20-point cushion at 80-60 on a Taylor jumper, and Stonehill led by as many as 25 points in the closing minutes of action.

Senior Chris Kraus (Markham, Ont.) added 17 points, seven assists and four steals in the win for Stonehill, which also received 14 points from junior Lance Clarke (Somerville, Mass.). Senior Sean Nelson (Milford, Mass.) and junior Soap Toun (Cranston, R.I.) each added 12 points and eight rebounds on the day for the Skyhawks, who outrebounded Saint Michael's by a 41-25 margin (14-4 on the offensive glass) and canned nine three-pointers (four by Toun) while holding a 21-11 scoring edge at the foul line.

Sophomore James Sorrentine (Pawtucket, R.I.) led four players in double figures with 17 points (including four three-pointers) for Saint Michael's, which also received 13 points from freshman Mike Iola (West Newbury, Mass.). Mullins added 11 points and four assists for the Purple Knights, which also received 10 points from sophomore Brian Monahan (Kinderhook, N.Y.). The visitors shot 44 percent from the field and connected on 11 three-pointers while canning 11-of-12 attempts at the foul line, as Stonehill claimed its fifth straight victory over Saint Michael's dating back to January 2002.

Stonehill travels to Manchester, N.H. on Wednesday evening to take on Saint Anselm in a Northeast-10 outing that tips-off at 7:30 p.m., while Saint Michael's hosts fifth-ranked Bentley in a Northeast-10 contest on Wednesday evening in Colchester, Vt. that also begins at 7:30 p.m.
