Lowell, Mass. - UMass-Lowell junior Jaci Moulton scored two goals as the No. 2 River Hawks defeated No. 6 Stonehill, 4-2, Tuesday night in Northeast-10 field hockey action at Cushing Field.

Juniors Claire Hourihan (East Amherst, N.Y.) and Jackie Ladino (North Dartmouth, Mass.) each had a goal and an assist for the Skyhawks, who fall to 0-2, 0-1 in the Northeast-10, while Lowell improves their ledger to 1-2 overall and 1-0 in the Northeast-10.

Moulton struck for both of her goals in the first 23 minutes of action, but Hourihan cut the UML lead in half with her first of the year at the 34:45 mark.

The River Hawks ended any thoughts of a comeback when they got a tally from Liz Day just 34 seconds into the second half and then Sammy Macy made it 4-1 at the 42:37 mark of the match with an unassisted score.

Ladino and Hourihan combined for the Skyhawks second goal of the night in the 61st minute (60:49) to wrap up the scoring.

UML's Danielle Dodier made two saves in goal for the River Hawks to earn her first win of the season while Stonehill netminder Courtney Osier (South Dennis, Mass.) stopped a career-high 11 shots, but took the loss for Stonehill.

The Skyhawks return to action on Saturday when they travel to St. Michael's for a meeting with the Purple Knights.
