Easton, Mass. - Behind two goals from junior Claire Hourihan (East Amherst, N.Y.) including one 2:35 into the game, Stonehill raced to a 3-0 win over visiting St. Michael's on Saturday afternoon at W.B. Mason Stadium.

The Skyhawks, who have won seven of their last eight matches, controlled the ball for most of the game, especially in the first half where they out-shot the Purple Knights 17-1.

Following Hourihan's first tally, Stonehill looked poised to get another score when Kerri Sullivan (Goffstown, N.H.) took a feed from sophomore Lindsay Pinkham (Skowhegan, Maine) but Sullivan's bid sailed wide.

The Skyhawks did add another tally when freshman Kathryn Nelson (Shrewsbury, Mass.) scored right before the half ended, moments after she checked in to send Stonehill to a 2-0 halftime lead.

Hourihan's second score of the day, her 12th of the season, came midway through the second stanza when Sullivan found her open for the final score of the game.

St. Michael's netminder Jordan Smalling kept the score close for the Purple Knights, as she turned away 14 shots, including nine in the first half.

Courtney Osier (South Dennis, Mass.) meanwhile, picked up her seventh win of the year and her fourth career shutout.

Now 7-5 overall, the Skyhawks improve to 7-4 in Northeast-10 action, a half game behind Bentley for second place in the Conference standings.

Stonehill returns to action on Wednesday when they host Southern Connecticut at 4 p.m.
