Chandler, Ariz. - 11 members of the Stonehill field hockey team have been honored by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association for their performance in the classroom it has been announced. The team as a whole has also been acknowledged as one of 13 Division II programs that had a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Maria Bajnoczi (Norwalk, Conn.), Michaela Deasy (North Falmouth, Mass.), Courtney Foley (Wakefield, Mass.), Sarah Galligan (West Newbury, Mass.), Lauren Gifford (Goffstown, N.H.), Stephanie Kott (Rutland, Mass.), Ashley March (Schwenksville, Pa.), Laura Menke (Greenland, N.H.), Kathryn Nelson (Shrewsbury, Mass.) Laura Noce (Sudbury, Mass.) and Kerri Sullivan (Goffstown, N.H.) were the student-athletes honored.

Stonehill's total of 11 honorees is the fourth highest total of all Division II teams behind only Kutztown (18), Slippery Rock (14), Mercyhurst (13) and Adelphi (13).

The Skyhawks finished their 2008 season at 13-8 under first-year head coach Shelly Morris.
