Skyhawks Fly To 3-0 Win

Rindge, N.H. - You knew it was just a matter of time. Caitlin Gleason (Goffstown, N.H.) is Stonehill College's all-time leading scorer for a reason. On Tuesday afternoon against an overmatched Franklin Pierce squad, Gleason scored a goal and added two assists as the Skyhawks rolled to a 3-0 NE-10 win over the Ravens.

The game was postponed over an hour because of a time confusion with the officials, but the delay never slowed down the Skyhawks who got on the board a little more than eight minutes in to the contest when Gleason scored her second goal of the season off an assist from Jackie Ladino (North Dartmouth, Mass.).

Senior tri-captain Brittany Dibble (East Schodack, N.Y.) added her first tally of the season when Gleason fed her a pass on a cross to the left side of the net that she deposited in the back of the cage.

On a day when the Skyhawks moved up to No. 3 in the most recent STX/NFHCA Division II Poll, they dominated all facets of the contest. The defense was stout, holding the Ravens without a shot, while they peppered Franklin Pierce goalkeeper, Stephanie Howard was peppered with 14 shots on goal and 26 overall. Stonehill also had 24 penalty corners compared to just four for the Ravens.

Gleason and Claire Hourihan (East Amherst, N.Y.) teamed up for the final Skyhawk goal, the third of the half, with a little more than five minutes left in the first stanza to wrap up the scoring.

Freshman netminder Courtney Osier (South Dennis, Mass.) saw her first action in between the pipes, relieving Dani Ryder (Gloucester, Mass.) with 6:04 to go.

Stonehill improves to 5-0, 3-0 in the Northeast-10 and returns to action on Saturday with a road contest at Merrimack.
