Skyhawks Rebound With 3-2 Win

North Easton, Mass. - For the first time this season, Stonehill had to play a game coming off a loss. After initially falling behind, 1-0, the Skyhawks scored two straight goals and then eventually the gamewinner, taking a 3-2 win over Southern Connecticut at W.B. Mason Stadium.

The Owls got on the board first when Ann Berry took a feed from Kate Gedney off of a penalty corner and beat keeper Dani Ryder (Gloucester, Mass.) with a shot on the left side of the cage.

SCSU held that advantage for a little more than ten minutes when senior Aly Boulis (Lincoln, R.I.) rattled the back of the cage when she teamed up with Kerri Sullivan (Goffstown, N.H.) to knot the match at 1-1.

The Skyhawks took the lead with no time left on the clock when a penalty corner was called with two seconds left. Boulis and Caitlin Gleason (New Boston, N.H.) connected for Boulis' second goal of the game and tenth of the season.

Gedney got back to work for the Owls on a penalty corner when she found Grace Martha to even the score again, this time at 2-2.

Stonehill took the lead for good however, just 21 seconds later when sophomore Jackie Ladino (North Dartmouth, Mass.) setup Laura Nimon (Gardiner, Maine) for her fourth tally of the season.

Ryder turned away five shots for the Skyhawks while freshman netminder Lauren Zarella made three saves for the Owls.

The Skyhawks, who play two of their next three games at home, now sit at 8-1 overall and 6-1 in Northeast-10 play. They host Franklin Pierce on Saturday at noon.
