Skyhawks Honored For Academics By NFHCA

 

Freshman Michaela Deasy returns next season to a Stonehill squad that finished 15-6 overall.

Glen Allen, Va. - The Stonehill field hockey team is one of several programs that have been named a recipient of the National Field Hockey Coaches Association's National Academic Team Award it was announced on Monday by the NFHCA.

The National Academic Team Award recognizes those institutions that achieve a minimum GPA of 3.0 during the first semester of the 2007-08 academic year.

In addition nine Skyhawk student-athletes - Morgan Davis (Walpole, Mass.), Michaela Deasy (North Falmouth, Mass.), Brittany Dibble (East Schodack, N.Y.), Ashley Freeman (White River Jct., Vt.), Lauren Gifford (Goffstown, N.H.), Stephanie Kott (Rutland, Vt.), Laura Noce (Sudbury, Mass.), Dani Ryder (Gloucester, Mass.) and Kerri Sullivan (Goffstown, N.H.) - have been named to the 2007 ZAG/NFHCA Division II National Academic Squad.

The National Academic Squad program recognizes those collegiate student-athletes who have achieved a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.30 through the first semester of the 2007-08 academic year. 

Stonehill finished its season at 15-6 and ended the year with a No. 8 national ranking, after reaching as high as No. 2 early in the season.
