Smithfield, R.I. - Bryant's Shana Libman and Courtney O'Brien each had a goal and assist to help lead tenth-ranked Bryant to a 2-1 win over previously undefeated Stonehill on Saturday night. The loss snaps the Skyhawks best start in school history, a seven game spurt to open the season.
The Bulldogs got on the board first at the 19:25 mark, when O'Brien rattled the back of the cage after a great feed from Libman. O'Brien returned the favor early in the second half when she found Libman at the top of the circle and sent a low shot that got past Stonehill goalkeeper Dani Ryder (Gloucester, Mass.).
The Skyhawks finally broke through when Kerri Sullivan (Goffstown, N.H.) broke through off a penalty corner at 49:56.
Stonehill would get no closer, however, as Bulldog netminder Kundayi Mawema turned away 10 Skyhawk shots, including Brittany Dibble's attempt with less than two minutes to play.
Stonehill, now 7-1, 5-1 in NE-10 action, returns to action on Tuesday when it hosts Southern Connecticut.
