November 1, 2006

Not only has the Stonehill College field hockey team got the job done on the field this year in claiming its first-ever Northeast-10 Conference regular season championship, the Skyhawks continue to do the job in the classroom as well, as Head Coach Pam Arpe's squad placed the most individuals of any league member on the 2006 Northeast-10 Field Hockey Academic All-Conference team.

Senior All-America Kelly Latendresse (Sidney, Maine/Messalonskee) and juniors Dani Ryder (Gloucester, Mass./Tantasqua Regional) and Morgan Davis (Walpole, Mass./Walpole) earned spots on the first team Academic All-Conference squad, as Latendresse is a repeat selection for Stonehill, having posted a 3.36 cumulative grade point average as an International Studies major while earning back-to-back NFHCA Division II All-America honors for her performance on the field. Latendresse ranks fourth on the team in scoring to date with six goals and seven assists for 19 points.

Ryder, who has posted 16 wins and nine shutouts with a 1.03 goals against average in net for the Skyhawks this fall, also has notched a 3.36 GPA as a Biology major at the College, while Davis has posted a 3.63 grade point average as a Health Care Administration major and has appeared in 17 matches, registering an assist to date.

Sophomores Kerri Sullivan (Goffstown, N.H./Goffstown) and Lisa McNeil (Canton, Mass./Canton) earned second team Academic All-Conference honors for Stonehill, as Sullivan, last year's Northeast-10 Freshman of the Year, has posted a 3.38 cumulative grade point average as a Business major and McNeil has notched a 3.69 GPA in two semesters to date. Sullivan ranks third on the Skyhawk scoring list this season with seven goals and seven assists for 21 points, including a pair of game-winning tallies, while McNeil has appeared in 11 contests to date at the midfield spot.

Stonehill has placed 18 student-athletes on five Northeast-10 Academic All-Conference fall squads to date while capturing league regular season titles in both field hockey and women's cross country. Arpe's field hockey crew takes a 16-3 overall mark into this weekend's Northeast-10 Championships, as the Skyhawks are the top seed in this year's tournament and will take on fourth-seeded Saint Michael's in semi-final round action on Saturday morning at W.B. Mason Stadium beginning at 11:00 a.m.
