RINDGE, N.H.-- Sophomore Caitlin Gleason (New Boston, N.H.) netted a pair of goals and freshman Kerri Sullivan (Goffstown, N.H.) added a goal and an assist to lead Stonehill to a 6-0 Northeast-10 Conference field hockey victory over Franklin Pierce Saturday afternoon at Sodexho Field.
Goals by Sullivan and sophomore Jillian Klotz (Centerville, Mass.) that came 1:18 apart late in the first half staked the visiting Skyhawks (3-0, 2-0 Northeast-10) to a 2-0 advantage at the break, and Gleason added her two scores in the 42nd and 54th minutes, respectively, to extend the Stonehill lead to 4-0, as her second goal came on a penalty stroke conversion. Senior Julie Michalos (Norwood, Mass.) gave the visitors a 5-0 cushion in the 56th minute, and junior All-America Kelly Latendresse (Sidney, Maine) closed out the scoring with 5:20 remaining to account for the final margin.
Junior Courtney Campbell (Reading, Mass.), sophomore Colleen McLaughlin (Methuen, Mass.) and freshman Kelley Devlin (Higganum, Conn.) joined Sullivan in recording single assists on the day for Stonehill, as sophomore Dani Ryder made one save in 61-plus minutes of action to record her third straight and 12th career shutout in goal. Freshman Sara Piper (Hollis, N.H.) was not called upon for a stop in the Skyhawk cage over the final eight minutes of play, while junior Amanda Pietraszuk (Clinton, Conn.) made 11 saves in goal for the host Ravens (0-2, 0-2 Northeast-10). Stonehill outshot Franklin Pierce by a commanding 20-1 margin for the match.
Stonehill hosts rival Bentley in a Northeast-10 outing on Thursday evening at W.B. Mason Stadium beginning at 7:00 p.m., while Franklin Pierce hosts Saint Anselm in a Northeast-10 match on Tuesday evening at Sodexho Field beginning at 6:00 p.m.
