More Honors For Kilborn

This time its a national honor for junior defensive back Jon Kilborn (North Dartmouth, Mass.).

North Aurora, Ill. - The honors keep rolling in for junior defensive back Jon Kilborn (North Dartmouth, Mass.) after his impressive outing in the Skyhawks recent win over Merrimack.

After being named Northeast-10 defensive player of the week, and a "Herald Hero" in Monday's edition of the Boston Herald, Kilborn has also been named a Don Hansen's College Football Gazette Division II National Player of the Week.

Don Hansen, who is widely recognized as an expert on small college football, has produced his weekly publication since 1987.

Kilborn was a huge reason the Skyhawks secured their fifth win of the season, a 24-14 win over Merrimack last Friday. He recorded a game-high 14 tackles, intercepted three passes and broke up two more as Stonehill secured its first winning season since 1996.

Two of his interceptions came as the Warriors had marched deep into Skyhawk territory, helping keep Stonehill ranked first in the Northeast-10 in red zone defense.

The three interceptions tied a school record set by Sean Daley in a 35-14 win over Assumption in 1995.

The Merrimack game was the second huge performance in a row for Kilborn, who also had six tackles, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries in the loss to Southern Connecticut.

Kilborn and the Skyhawks wrap up their season with a 1 p.m. kickoff on Saturday when they host American International.
