Centreville, Mass. - Senior co-captain, Mike DeBye (Burlington, Mass.) has been named a Division II All-Star it was announced on Tuesday by the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC).

DeBye, who was named to the Northeast-10 first-team as well, led the Skyhawks with 67 tackles and 5.5 tackles for loss in just eight games.

His season started out in impressive fashion as he made an interception on the goal line in the waning seconds to preserve a 20-14 season-opening win over Assumption.

Later in the season, he was named Northeast-10 player of the week after posting a career-high 15 tackles, including 12 solo stops, as the Skyhawks defeated C.W. Post for the first time in the program's history. In the weeks following, he had 14 tackles in a loss to Iona and then 12 more stops in a defeat at Bryant.

Southern Connecticut's junior quarterback Steve Armstrong was selected as the 2007 ECAC Division II Football Player of the Year, while Assumption freshman running back Herb Woodward received the Rookie of the Year Award..

Stonehill, which completed its first season under head coach Robert Talley, showed marked improvement, increasing its record from 1-9 in 2006, to 5-5 in 2007.

The ECAC will honor the players and rookies of the year in each division and region on February 19, 2008 at the annual Eastern College Football Awards Banquet presented by FieldTurf Tarkett, an event held in the Pegasus Restaurant at the Meadowlands Sports Complex in East Rutherford, N.J.
