TEAM AND INDIVIDUAL STATISTICS TO FOLLOW

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y.-- Senior Scott Shuryn's (Pompton Lakes, N.J.) nine-yard touchdown run with 3:59 to play in the half held up as the lone score in leading Pace to a 7-0 Northeast-10 Conference football victory over Stonehill Saturday afternoon at Finnerty Field.

A game that saw the two teams combine for nine turnovers saw the host Setters (2-1, 1-1 Northeast-10) capitalize on a fumble deep in the visiting Skyhawks' (0-3, 0-3 Northeast-10) territory, as Shuryn's scoring scamper capped a four-play, 25-yard drive for the lone points of the contest. Pace held a 133-30 edge in rushing yards for the day, including 49 by Shuryn on 15 carries, while Stonehill amassed 202 passing yards compared to 16 for the hosts, but the Setters recorded six interceptions of Skyhawk sophomore quarterback Jon Kaloyanides (Cranston, R.I.), including three by graduate student Chris Anzano (Wyckoff, N.J.) and a pair by freshman Greg Brain (Westtown, N.Y.).

Stonehill had a chance to get on the board midway through the third quarter when junior J.J. Niamkey (Quincy, Mass.) recorded his second interception of the year at the Pace 29 yard line, but the Skyhawks were unable to convert as junior Sean Donahue's (Plymouth, N.H.) 25-yard field goal attempt missed wide right. The visitors drove into Setter territory three times in the fourth stanza, including a possession set up by sophomore Alex Leviner's (Lynn, Mass.) fumble recovery at the start of the quarter, but were unable to capitalize. Stonehill had one last chance with the ball on its own 33 with just under two miniutes to play, but Anzano's third interception of the day sealed the Pace victory.

Junior Chris Castellano (Washingtonville, N.Y.) added 32 rushing yards in the win for the Setters, as junior quarterback Adam Headley (Shelton, Conn.) completed just two passes for 16 yards but added 28 rushing yards for the hosts. Kaloyanides completed 21-of-45 passes for a career-best 202 yards, as senior Cliff Mason II (Santa Ana, Calif.) rushed for 37 yards for Stonehill, which received a combined 11 receptions for 79 yards from seniors Paul Stone (Somerville, Mass.) and Paul Rosie (Arlington, Mass.).

Junior Ernst Turnier (Stratford, Conn.) led Pace with six solo tackles, while Anzano made three solo stops to go with his three interceptions for the Setters. Sophomore George Whetstone (Westwood, Mass.) recorded eight total tackles in the setback for Stonehill, which also received seven solo stops from freshman Michael Johnson (Portland, Ore.).

Stonehill hosts 20th-ranked C.W. Post in a Northeast-10 outing next Saturday afternoon at W.B. Mason Stadium beginning at Noon, while Pace travels to Manchester, N.H. to take on Saint Anselm in a Northeast-10 contest that kicks off at 1:00 p.m.
