EASTON, Mass.-- Sophomore quarterback Nick Georgetti (Holbrook, N.Y.) threw for 145 yards, including a pair of touchdowns to fellow sophomore Jamie Kilcullen (Shirley, N.Y.), as 24th-ranked C.W. Post held on in the closing minutes to post a 24-20 Northeast-10 Conference football victory over Stonehill Saturday afternoon at W.B. Mason Stadium.

Georgetti and Kilcullen hooked up on scores of 24 and 40 yards, respectively, in the opening 7:59 of play to stake the visiting Pioneers (3-1, 3-0 Northeast-10) to an early 14-0 advantage, but the host Skyhawks (0-4, 0-4 Northeast-10) forced a C.W. Post fumble late in the opening stanza and capitalized when sophomore quarterback Jon Kaloyanides (Cranston, R.I.) hooked up with fellow sophomore Chris Palmer (Santa Barbara, Calif.) on a 14-yard touchdown that sliced Stonehill's deficit in half. The Pioneers took a 21-7 edge with 9:04 to play in the half when sophomore Anthony Lazarus (South Ozone Park, N.Y.) capped an eight play, 80-yard drive with a one-yard touchdown plunge, but the Skyhawks responded with an eight play, 72-yard drive of their own that was capped when Kaloyanides hit Palmer for his second score of the day on a 10-yard pass with 4:41 remaining in the half for a 21-14 score.

Sophomore Andrew Kroell (Baldwin, N.Y.) connected on what would prove to be a key 40-yard field goal with 38 seconds remaining in the half to stake the visitors to a 24-14 edge at the break, and the two teams exchanged punts in the third stanza before Stonehill capitalized on another C.W. Post fumble deep in its own territory, as on the ensuing play Kaloyanides and Palmer hooked up for their third touchdown of the afternoon on a 16-yard scoring strike, but a missed extra point kept the Skyhawk deficit at four. The hosts forced a pair of Pioneers punts midway through the fourth quarter and drove down to the C.W. Post 38 yard line with just over two minutes remaining, but Stonehill turned the ball over on downs on a 4th-and-1 play, and the Pioneers used a 50-yard run by Lazarus in the closing minute to post their triumph.

Kilcullen hauled in four receptions for 87 total yards in the win for C.W. Post, while Lazarus rushed for 93 yards on 15 carries to go with his one touchdown. Kaloyanides finished the day completing 24-of-40 attempts for 191 yards and his three touchdowns to Palmer, who hauled in five total receptions for 83 yards.

Senior Matt Albanese (East Meadow, N.Y.) paced the Pioneers with eight total tackles on the defensive side, as the visitors registered five total sacks, including a pair by junior Maurice Baker (Hempstead, N.Y.). C.W. Post held Stonehill to nine rushing yards on the day and outgained the Skyhawks by a 313-200 margin in total offense.

Junior J.J. Niamkey (Quincy, Mass.) paced the hosts on defense with eight total tackles (five solo), while senior Tony Pires (Taunton, Mass.) and sophomore George Whetstone (Westwood, Mass.) added seven tackles each. Pires, sophomore Michael Greene (Plainview, N.Y.) and freshman Michael Johnson (Portland, Ore.) each recovered fumbles on the day for Stonehill, which held the Pioneers scoreless for the final 30:38 of action.

Stonehill travels to New Rochelle, N.Y. next Saturday afternoon to take on I-AA foe Iona in a non-league match-up that kicks off at 1:00, while C.W. Post hosts Saint Anselm in a Northeast-10 outing next Saturday afternoon in Brookville, N.Y. that kicks off at Noon.
