Six Runs In The Seventh Doom Skyhawks

Rindge, N.H. - Franklin Pierce exploded for six runs in the seventh inning, turning a 4-0 deficit to a 6-4 advantage, as they the Skyhawks lost their sixth straight game, this one 6-4 under the lights in Ridge on Thursday.

With the loss, Stonehill dropped under .500 for the first time in over a month, moving to 21-22 on the season and 11-16 in conference play. 

Sophomore Scott Hackett (Bangor, Maine) had the hot bat for the Skyhawks, finishing 3-5 with a run scored while senior Nate Weber (Hanson, Mass.) had a hit, a run and an and RBI. 

Stonehill jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning as Mitch Davis (Bow, N.H.) and Hackett singled to open the game.  A double by Weber scored Davis and a sacrifice fly by Angelo Bruno (Norwalk, Conn.) pushed Hackett across the plate while Weber scored the final run of the inning one batter later. 

No one scored again until the top of the seventh when Kyle Shepard (Boxford, Mass.) scored from third on a wild pitch, as freshman southpaw Matt Olsen (Winchester, Mass.) held the Raven bats to just three hits over the first six innings. 

The bottom of the seventh was a different story as Franklin Pierce rapped out six hits, four doubles, to take back the lead and chase the freshman. 

Raven reliever Rob Nicholas held Stonehill without a hit over the final two innings to take the 6-4 win. Olsen took the loss to drop to 3-1 on the season. 

The Skyhawks return to action on Saturday when they host New Haven with first pitch set for 3:00 p.m.
