Easton, Mass. - Pinch hitter Ryan Copp drove home two runs in the top of the ninth inning to break a 1-1 tie and give visiting Franklin Pierce an eventual 4-1 win over host Stonehill on Saturday afternoon at Lou Gorman Field.

The loss for the Skyhawks snapped a season-best five game winning streak and handed the purple and white their first home loss of the season.

Senior Nick SantaBarbara (Middleton, Mass.) was the tough luck loser for Stonehill, despite going 8.1 innings. He yielded seven hits and four earned runs while striking out six.

Copp's single to right field scored Kevin Rivers and Cliff Hicks, who had led the inning off with back-to-back singles.

Each team scored their first runs of the game without recording a hit. The Ravens got on the board first in the top of the first, when a walk, stolen base, flyout and wild pitch accounted for their move around the bases.

Manwhile, Stonehill capitalized on a Franklin Pierce mistake in the bottom half of the second to score their only run of the game. Brendan Shepard (Boxford, Mass.) walked to open the inning and then moved to second on wild pitch. Then Dave Fradette (Goffstown, N.H.) reached on a throwing error by the first baseman that allowed Shepard to come around and score.

Tyler Bishop, who came on for Franklin Pierce starter Kyle Vazquez, earned the win, tossing two innings of no-hit relief, while striking out three.

Javier Guzman (San Juan, P.R.) had two hits for Stonehill, which also got hits from Nate Weber (Hanson, Mass.), Matt Orr (Wilton, Conn.) and Rob Von Stein (Trumbull, Conn.).
