MANCHESTER, N.H.-- Senior Adam Pardo's (Hanover, Mass.) game-tying RBI single in the top of the ninth enabled Stonehill to battle Southern New Hampshire to a 1-1 tie in a Northeast-10 Conference baseball outing that was called after 16 innings because of darkness Thursday afternoon at Penmen Field.

The two teams were scoreless into the bottom of the eighth when junior Ryan Thompson (Westford, Mass.) gave the host Penmen (6-10-1, 5-9-1 Northeast-10) a 1-0 lead with a two-out double that plated sophomore Brandon Thomas (Cornwall-Hudson, N.Y.), but Stonehill (13-18-1, 5-12-1 Northeast-10) plated the equalizer in the ninth when senior Tom Aldrich (New Canaan, Conn.) led off the frame with a double and scored on Pardo's one-out single. Those would prove to be the lone runs of the contest for either squad, as Southern New Hampshire had runners at the corners in the 13th but could not score and the Skyhawks left the bases loaded in the top of the 15th inning.

Junior David Fradette (Goffstown, N.H.) rapped out three hits in the draw for Stonehill, which also received a pair of hits each from Pardo and Aldrich. Senior Chris Herrman (Chelmsford, Mass.) went 8 2/3 innings on the mound for the Skyhawks, allowing just four hits and striking out a career-high 13, while fellow senior Matt Vaughn (Bow, N.H.) pitched 7 1/3 innings of scoreless relief, fanning a career-best 10 as the visitors tied the record for the longest game by innings in school history.

Sophomore Skyler Byrd (Milford, N.H.) and junior Bill Murray (Canton, Mass.) each had a pair of hits for Southern New Hampshire on the day, as junior Jon Morse (Arlington, Mass.) went the first eight frames on the mound for the Penmen, allowing just two hits and striking out eight.

Stonehill heads to Worcester, Mass. on Friday afternoon to take on Assumption in a Northeast-10 outing that begins at 3:30 p.m., while Southern New Hampshire travels to Rindge, N.H. on Friday evening to take on Franklin Pierce in a Northeast-10 match-up that begins at 7:00 p.m.
