EASTON, Mass.-- Senior All-America Billy Sittig (West Roxbury, Mass.) tossed a complete-game six-hitter and struck out seven to pick up his seventh win of the season in lifting Stonehill to a 4-1 Northeast-10 Conference baseball victory over Southern Connecticut Thursday afternoon at Gorman Field.

Sittig allowed an unearned run and raised his school record career strikeout mark to 285 with his effort for the host Skyhawks (27-13, 21-5 Northeast-10), who grabbed 1-0 third inning lead on an RBI single by junior Max Vigliotti (Stamford, Conn.) and plated three decisive tallies in the sixth on RBI singles by junior Adam Pardo (Hanover, Mass.) and sophomore Ryan Halloran (Tyngsboro, Mass.) to go with a fielder's choice groundout by junior Tom Aldrich (New Canaan, Conn.). The visiting Owls (26-15, 15-9 Northeast-10) plated their lone tally in the seventh on an RBI double off the bat of sophomore Billy Hite (Shelton, Conn.), but Sittig shut the door from that point to give Stonehill its fourth straight triumph overall and remained tied for first place in the conference standings.

Halloran went 3-for-4 on the day for the Skyhawks, who also received a pair of hits from senior T.J. Piscatelli (Norfolk, Mass.). Junior Jim McLaughlin (Medway, Mass.) rapped out a pair of hits in the setback for Southern Connecticut, as Hite and Piscatelli each collected doubles on the day and were joined by Stonehill senior Sean Lawrence (New Rochelle, N.Y.), who collected his 19th two-bagger of the spring.

Senior Jeff Farrell (Naugatuck, Conn.) allowed nine hits and four earned runs while fanning five over 5 1/3 innings of work to fall to 4-4 on the mound for the Owls, as fellow senior Joe Vingo (Harrison, N.Y.) tossed 2 2/3 scoreless relief frames for the visitors.

Stonehill and Southern Connecticut close out their two-game Northeast-10 home-and-home set on Friday afternoon in New Haven, Conn. beginning at 1:30 p.m.
