EASTON, Mass.-- Senior T.J. Piscatelli (Norfolk, Mass.) rapped out three hits, including the game-winning RBI single in the 10th inning of the opener, to lift Stonehill to a sweep of a Northeast-10 Conference baseball doubleheader over Southern New Hampshire by scores of 4-3 in the opener and 8-3 in the nightcap Saturday afternoon at Gorman Field.

Piscatelli's opening game heroics came after the host Skyhawks (25-13, 19-5 Northeast-10) grabbed a 3-0 third inning lead a two-run single by senior Sean Lawrence (New Rochelle, N.Y.) that was followed by an RBI single off the bat of junior Max Vigliotti (Stamford, Conn.), but the visiting Penmen (19-19, 10-16 Northeast-10) evened matters with three tallies in the seventh, as RBI singles by senior Josh Ingraham (Newmarket, N.H.) and junior Rich Russell (Swanzey, N.H.), coupled with a passed ball, evened matters. Stonehill loaded the bases in the bottom of the 10th to set up Piscatelli's heroics, as he plated senior Coley Lyons (West Roxbury, Mass.) with the game-winner.

Lawrence and Piscatelli each had two hits as part of a 10-hit Stonehill attack in the opener that made a winner in relief of senior Joe Breen (Swampscott, Mass.), who tossed 3 2/3 scoreless innings and fanned three to go to 6-1 after senior Brian Nelson (Greenville, R.I.) had allowed one earned run and struck out four over 6 1/3 frames. Russell and sophomore Bill Murray (Canton, Mass.) each had two hits in the opener for Southern New Hampshire, as senior Casey O'Brien (Newmarket, N.H.) went the distance on the mound for the Penmen, striking out seven along the way in falling to 4-3 on the season.

Stonehill plated three runs in the first and third innings of the nightcap to take an early 6-0 edge, as Vigliotti and sophomore David Fradette (Goffstown, N.H.) combined to drive in five of the runs, with Fradette also scoring on a balk. Southern New Hampshire used an RBI single in the fourth by senior Wayne Parker (Manchester, Conn.) as well as run scoring singles in the seventh from senior Tony Aucoin (Southbridge, Mass.) and freshman Skyler Byrd (Milford, N.H.) to close to within 6-3, but the Skyhawks plated two insurance tallies in the eighth on RBI singles by Lyons and Vigliotti to close out the scoring.

Vigliotti rapped out three hits and drove in four runs in the win for Stonehill, which also received two hits each from Lyons and Fradette to make a winner on the mound of sophomore Andy Hillier (Hanover, Mass.), who allowed two hits and struck out five over 6 1/3 innings of work. Fellow sophomore Mat Lindenmayer (Penfield, N.Y.) pitched two scoreless innings and struck out three to earn his first save of the year for the Skyhawks. Five different players collected hits in the nightcap setback for Southern New Hampshire, as freshman Greg Lyons (Canton, Mass.) allowed six hits and six runs over 2 2/3 innings while fanning four to fall to 1-5 on the mound for the Penmen.

Stonehill and Southern New Hampshire close out their three-game Northeast-10 weekend set on Sunday afternoon in Manchester, N.H. beginning at 1:00 p.m.
