EASTON, Mass.-- Senior Joe Breen (Swampscott, Mass.) fired a complete-game four-hitter and struck out six for his fourth victory of the season as Stonehill tossed its third straight shutout in posting a 1-0 Northeast-10 Conference baseball triumph over Bryant Tuesday afternoon at Gorman Field.

The margin of victory was provided with two outs in the bottom of the eighth of the scoreless affair, as junior Adam Pardo (Hanover, Mass.) reached on a fielder's choice and advanced to third on a single by sophomore Ryan Halloran (Tyngsboro, Mass.) before stealing home on a double-steal to give the host Skyhawks (14-11, 9-3 Northeast-10) the decision. Breen, who had allowed just two hits over the first eight innings of work, saw the visiting Bulldogs (10-23, 8-6 Northeast-10) load the bases with no outs in the top of the ninth, but he recorded back-to-back strikeouts and induced a fly ball to centerfield to escape and finish his gem, improving to 4-0 on the season. Stonehill pitchers have combined for three straight shutouts and have not allowed a run over the last 35 innings dating back to last Thursday, a span of four games overall.

Breen hooked up in a duel with Bryant sophomore Eric Loh (Old Greenwich, Conn.), who allowed just five hits and struck out seven in going the distance on the mound in a tough-luck loss for the Bulldogs, falling to 2-6 on the season. Loh had allowed just three hits over the first seven innings of work before being touched for two hits and the run in the eighth frame.

Halloran and senior Coley Lyons (West Roxbury, Mass.) each had two hits in the win for Stonehill, while senior Paul Novakowski (Prospect, Conn.) collected two hits in the setback for Bryant.

The Skyhawks and Bulldogs meet again in a Northeast-10 outing on Wednesday afternoon in Smithfield, R.I. beginning at 3:30 p.m.
