EASTON, Mass.-- Senior G.J. Vicente (Salem, N.H.) drove in three runs with a pair of hits and two sacrifice flies as Bentley salvaged the final game of a three-game Northeast-10 Conference baseball set with Stonehill by posting a 6-3 league triumph Monday afternoon at Gorman Field.

The visiting Falcons (15-18-1, 9-13 Northeast-10) halted their own three-game slide while also ending the host Skyhawks (23-12, 17-4 Northeast-10) school-record 12-game winning streak, as Bentley jumped out to a 2-0 first inning lead on an RBI double by senior Chad Mastin (East Hartford, Conn.) and Vicente's first sacrifice fly of the afternoon. The Falcons plated single runs in the fourth and fifth on RBI singles by Vicente and junior Tim Denehy (Norwood, Mass.) that sandwiched an RBI double by Stonehill junior Max Vigliotti (Stamford, Conn.) in the fourth, but the Skyhawks closed back to within a run in the bottom of the sixth on RBI singles by junior Adam Pardo (Hanover, Mass.) and sophomore Ryan Halloran (Tyngsboro, Mass.). Bentley added a pair of insurance runs in their final two at-bats to account for the final score, as an RBI triple by junior Steve Gath (Reading, Mass.) coupled with Vicente's second sacrifice fly closed out the scoring.

Gath had four hits in the triumph for Bentley, which also received a pair of safeties from Mastin to back freshman Brett Fistes (South Deerfield, Mass.) on the mound, as he allowed four hits but walked six in 5 2/3 innings to improve to 4-1 on the season. Freshman Jarrod Marchesi (Peabody, Mass.) scattered four hits over the final 3 1/3 frames for the Falcons to earn his third save of the season.

Vigliotti and Halloran each had three hits in the setback for Stonehill, as senior Joe Breen (Swampscott, Mass.) allowed two earned runs and struck out two in 7 1/3 innings in suffering his first setback of the season on the mound for the Skyhawks, falling to 5-1 on the spring and seeing his 18 2/3 scoreless innings streak end.

Stonehill travels to North Andover, Mass. on Friday afternoon to take on Merrimack in a Northeast-10 outing that begins at 3:30 p.m., while Bentley hosts Assumption in a league match-up on Tuesday afternoon in Waltham, Mass. that also begins at 3:30 p.m.
